Prices

We generally take full week bookings during British school holidays (Easter and half-terms) and the summer holidays (July, August and early September). We also take week-long bookings for Christmas and New Year’s. If you’d like a shorter break during otherwise peak periods, drop us a line and we’ll see what’s possible. We are flexible on start and finish dates and will always consider weekend breaks throughout the year.

Security Deposit

A security deposit of £100 is payable – which will be returned to you within 28 days after your holiday provided there have been no additional charges or damages during your stay.

Bookings & Availability

Email bookings@gillbankcottage.com with the dates you are interested in and to confirm bookings. Guests are asked to vacate the cottage by 10am on the day of departure and not to arrive before 5.30pm on the day of arrival in order to allow us to uphold high standards in cleaning and maintenance. We ask guests to leave the cottage in a clean and orderly condition. To maintain the property it sometimes will be necessary for trades people to visit during your stay to attend to the building and grounds. Although we aim to minimise the need for this, we would appreciate your cooperation in allowing required trades people reasonable access. We will notify you in advance whenever possible when this is necessary.

All fuel, power, and bed linen (including sheets, pillows, duvets, hand and bath towels) are included in the rental cost, as are hand soap and toilet paper. Central heating is provided throughout.

Cancellation Policy

Full Payment

Guests will receive a 50% refund of the total cost if they cancel at least four weeks before the start of the holiday.

Split Payments

If the guest cancels or the balance is not paid on time, the booking deposit cannot be refunded.

If the balance payment is not received at least two weeks before the holiday starts, the booking will be automatically cancelled.

If the guest has paid the full balance, they will receive a 50% refund of the total cost if they cancel at least four weeks before the start of the holiday.

Pets welcome

Pets are welcome, although without prior arrangement, we can only accept one dog per visit. We charge £40 per pet per booking. Please ask if you need to bring more than one dog. Dogs are not allowed in any of the bedrooms and we ask that they not use the furniture downstairs. Please bring an appropriate dog bed with you. Dogs should not be left unattended in the cottage. Please note that although the property is completely fenced in, there is a working hill farm next door so pets must be kept under close control at all times. If in doubt about your dog, please ask.

  • The cottage operates a strict no smoking policy.
  • The private road to Gillbank is a steep and windy track, recently resurfaced by the National Trust. This is a single track shared with the two farms nearby, so proceed slowly and carefully, being particularly alert for sheep or walkers who may be using the road as a footpath. Gillbank Cottage’s off-road carpark will easily take five or six cars.
